I started taking pictures when I was little with my kid film camera. I remember waiting for them to get developed and looking at them. I still have many albums that my grandparents put together. Many had fingers in the way but I was only 5 or 6 at the time. They were all memories I want to remember. Many of them were just pictures of my pets or flowers and even days out.
Over the past 2 years I have found it hard to get out with my cameras due to lockdown and having lost interest in taking pictures due to anxiety, but the past few weeks I decided to give photography another go. Photography has been the hobby that helps me to beat depression, also get out and about.
My first DSLR camera was a Canon 450D which helps to introduce me to DSLR cameras. Previously all I used was bridge and compact cameras which only limited me to what I could do, so DSLR was a huge jump for me but helped me to push my limits. I have attended online courses to develop my understanding of DSLR cameras.
Over the years I have been a football photographer and also taken pictures of weddings and new-borns, also other people’s pets.
I do miss taking pictures of football matches as it was a big part of my life for 2 seasons and I got to travel a lot but I don’t miss the fans and crowds at the matches. The way they treat others and the referee I don’t want to be around that. I was the only female photographer that I saw in 2 seasons and many male fans were sexist. They kept saying females shouldn’t be a part of football and kept looking at me like I was an alien. I am grateful to meet a couple of photographers who helped me push my comfort zone but it was too late.
