With the coach leaving at 8:55am. I had to get up really early as I had to rely on the public bus get to where the coach was departing from. I got there really early as I get anxious about being there on time and need the toilet several time before boarding the coach.
With the journey getting to Yorkshire Wildlife Park there wasn’t much traffic but coming back we did hit some which I guess is normal at 6pm on a motorway at that time of day during the school holidays and rush hour. This did delay our arrival time.
We arrived at 11.20am and left about 4:20pm.
The queue to get in wasn’t very busy and quick. We were given bands to wear from the bus driver, so this allowed us to just walk in and not wait for the ticket office which you can imagine was a bit busy.
The main food part is right at the other end of the park, but there were small places to eat on the way there. I got the cheese burger meal. It cost me £8.55 and it comes with fries and a drink of my choice (Pepsi diet). The cheese burger came with 2 burgers and it was too much for me to eat it all.
There are plenty of toilets throughout the park which are mainly near shops. I got talking to one of the staff about the polar bears. They were very friendly and were happy to answer any questions.
Even if we had 5 hours. There was plenty of time to get round the park once. There were fewer types of animals than I expected there, but I got to see a couple of red pandas and several polar bears. There is a lot of walking to do and most of it is disabled friendly. There was one viewing platform which would be hard to get up on with disability difficulties; this just gave a better view of the giraffes and leopards. The leopards were not out at the time.
Outside of the complex there were many shops that you can walk around before boarding the coach. I went into a few but they were expensive so I didn’t get much.
The problems that occurred during the trip were that the seats were numbered wrong. This was very confusing. This caused families to be separated on the bus which isn’t ideal for families who have autistic/disabled family members with them.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park in my opinion is aimed towards children under 12 due to the animals, layout and small play areas that are available through the park.
If you have children over 12 aim to visit Edinburgh Zoo and Chester Zoo.
