Neurodivergent Geek and Comic Con

As a neurodivergent person I am very interested in games and geek stuff, but I have really wanted to go to London and other huge Comic Cons. I have been to a few small Comic Cons and have always been overwhelmed by how many stalls, lights and people around me.

 

I have watched youtubers and their trips to London Comic Con and other huge events over the years and it really puts me off by how loud it is and the queues to see events. I have seen one event where they have a quiet room but anyone can just take 5 minutes away from the crowds and have a breather, but I see they are not at all events which is sad to see. They need to make these events more neurodiverse friendly and I am sure they will get more people training up.

I have also wanted to go on Cosplay but I can never decide who to go as. I see others in cosplay on social media and it looks really fun to get dressed up and maybe get your pictures taken.

    I understand the struggle! I’ve been desperate to go to London Comic Con for years now, but I’ve only been able to go to the MCM in Manchester. That was stressful enough! I made sure that I went outside a lot for breaks and also my friend & I would find a corner to sit down by the food area, and just recover from the overwhelm before going back in. We also don’t go for the entire day, and try to leave just before the rush to the train station starts at the end of the con. As for cosplay, I’ve always wanted to go all out but I decided it was best for me to just wear simplistic outfits that don’t feel too restrictive or make me over heat. For example, i went as Totoro and just wore a grey dress with a Totoro themed apron stitched to it and some Totoro ears on my head 🙂 simple and easy to take off if it gets too much. I always take a spare tee in my bag with me so I can change. I really hope that you can go someday to London! Myself, too 🙂

      I would love to go to London Comic Con. They now do neurodivergent panels.
